Nurse's Corner
OverviewBartlett High School's nurses office is staffed by a registered nurse. The office is open from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm every school day. Except in the case of an emergency, and the student should see the front office.
A student must have a pass to enter the Nurse's Office.
Services Provided
- Emergency treatment of injuries sustained at or near the school
- Vaccination verification
- Dispensing prescription medication to students*
- Vision and hearing screening for tenth-grade students and new-to-district students
- Monitoring of students with chronic illnesses
Prescription Medication at SchoolPrescription medication must be brought to the Health Office in the original RX container. Bartlett's Nurse will only be able to dispense medications after the proper forms have been signed by a physician and/or parents. Students and parents should check with the Health Office regarding requirements that need to be followed prior to the dispensing of medication.
Over The Counter Medication at School
Approved nonprescription medications that can be dispensed by the school nurse are limited to over-the-counter medication; not including cold medicines or medicated cough drops.
Immunizations Required
Children enrolled in Alaska schools must be immunized against:
- Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (DTap/DT/Td/Tdap)
- Polio
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella through 6th grade
- Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b) – under age 5 years only
The number of doses and type of vaccine required depends on your child’s age, grade and prior vaccination history. Check with your healthcare provider for details.
