A Spotlight on Black History: George Washington Carver was a plant scientist who made great contributions to the field of agricultural chemistry. In 1896, Booker T. Washington, president of the Tuskegee Institute an HBCU in Alabama invited Carver to head its Agriculture Department. Carver taught there for 47 years and created more than 300 products from peanuts, soybeans, and sweet potatoes. He received many honors and awards for his work. Today you can find many institutions, museums, and schools named in honor of George Washington Carver.
Attention Key Club Members: There is a meeting on Friday, March 3rd in room 206 during lunch. Remember the $15.00 activity fee for the year.

Congratulations to Sarah Tucker, Declan Reid, Wyatt Chadwick, and Leola Atkinson for their gutsy performances representing Bartlett at the state cross-country ski championships last weekend. Congratulations also go out the entire Golden Bear Ski Team this year for providing some of the best showings and the largest team Bartlett has fielded in several years. Go bears.
Juniors and Seniors! Are you interested with a career in the trades? The Anchorage Construction Academy is offering a free hands-on training on Ironwork/Welding Pre-Apprenticeship and Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship during spring break. If interested, please see your counselor for more information.

Young or old, come by some green and gold! St Patrick’s Day is coming up, Bartlett High School’s JROTC program is selling lucky Oreo pops. Buy an Oreo pop for yourself or buy some for your friends. They will be selling them for 3 for $2. Come down to main place during lunch on Monday, February 27th to Friday, March 3rd to order yours. They will be delivered on March 8th during 5th period.

It’s Blood Drive time again. The Blood Bank of Alaska will be at Bartlett Friday, March 3rd. The earlier you return your completed paperwork, the better selection of donation times you have to choose from. If you are sixteen years or older and weigh 113 pounds or more, join the Golden Bear tradition of giving and pick up donation paperwork from Mr. Grenier in Rm 414A. Go Bears
